Volunteer Opportunities

The USFRA relies heavily on volunteers to run their events successfully. As a volunteer-driven organization, there are many ways to get involved at events like World of Speed.

Event Volunteer Roles

Volunteers support various aspects of race operations:

  • Course preparation and maintenance

  • Technical inspection

  • Timing vehicles on track

  • Radio operations and communication

  • Starting line operations

  • Safety and emergency response

  • Pit area coordination

  • Event access and ticket sales

  • Souvenirs

  • Administrative support

Benefits of volunteering

Volunteers gain:

  • Firsthand experience of land speed racing

  • Behind-the-scenes access to events

  • Opportunities to meet racers, teams, and other enthusiasts

  • A sense of community and belonging that can last year-round

  • Potential driving opportunities through the Club Car program

  • The satisfaction of supporting historic racing traditions

USFRA Club Car Project

One notable volunteer initiative is the USFRA Club Car Project, which provides an opportunity for hardworking volunteers to experience Bonneville racing firsthand. This project involved building a roadster specifically for USFRA volunteers to drive. The only way to ever get a chance to drive this club car is by volunteering and working at least two USFRA events.
